Goliath history

The business was started in 1952 from within a machine tool company called ‘Ackworthie Machines (Holdings)’. This business developed by manufacturing special threading tools for the 'Nut and Fastener' manufacturing Industry and they patented and perfected unique products to substantially improve cost effective manufacture of these products. Goliath continued to develop long shank nut taps, bent shank and finally nib and coupling taps for the Fastener Industry in the UK and around the World. The business then expanded into the manufacture and supply of standard taps and dies and rapidly grew its sales and distribution activities. In the 1960’s the business progressively opened its own sales and distribution operations in Australia, USA, Canada,France,Holland and Ireland, further expanding its worldwide activities. Goliath is still a major UK exporting company with 80% of its sales being generated from export markets.
